She can write clever tunes, hold an audience spellbound with her stage-acting talent and presence, sing, and, yes, crack you up. For more than 15 years, Leah Sprecher has appeared on TV, in films, and prestigious Broadway productions touring the US.
We are thrilled to welcome this funny, multi-talented singer and composer to ThinkingFunny21, April 3, 2021. This virtual comedy and humor-writing event runs from 9 am to 6 pm, Pacific time. You can see the lineup by clicking here, and register by clicking this Crowdcast link.
Her most recent projects include singing and touring as a member of The Bombshells, a band that blends top 40 hits with the tight harmonies made famous by the Andrews Sisters as well as performing as her alter ego, Barbara Dixon, satirizing the autobiographical cabaret shows of song-and-dance broads like Elaine Stritch, Liza Minelli, and Barbara Cook. She has also been writing branded songs for companies including Invisalign, Betch: A Sketch Show, and Funny Or Die..
She is slated to be on both the standup comedy and songwriting panels.
Sprecher earned her B.A. in theatre from UCLA’s Ray Bolger Musical Theatre Program, and went on to tour the country with multiple Broadway musicals including 42nd Street, Happy Days, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She has also performed regionally at the Tony award-winning Papermill Playhouse (Cinderella) and Goodspeed Opera House (Pirates of Penzance, Happy Days, Darling Grenadine).
In addition to musical theatre, Leah has an extensive comedy background, writing and performing as a member of the renowned Groundlings Sunday Company. Her original one woman show, Old Lady Parts, debuted on the Groundlings stage and went on to tour multiple venues including the Duplex in NYC. She is also a founding member of the Transcendence Theatre Company, which earned her a Broadway World “Person to Watch” nomination and the opportunity to open for both Rita Moreno and Ben Vereen in concert. Her TV credits include guest stints on IFC’s Maron, and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and Blackish, as well as commercials for Jackson Hewitt, Lowe’s, Cumberland Farms, and Capital One.
