Travel Writer Dave Fox Overcomes Virtual Jet Lag to Trek to ThinkingFunny21
Dave Fox is a bestselling travel and humor author who has been exploring the world since age seven and writing stories about the chaos he has a knack for tumbling into. He will be leading a workshop to share his writing tips and techniques on April 3, 2021, at ThinkingFunny21, a virtual humor & comedy writing conference.
Fox has a wealth of practical travel knowledge to draw from. He survived for 16 years as a website editor and tour guide for PBS travel personality Rick Steves before moving to Southeast Asia in 2011. (Whether or not all of his tour members survived is uncertain.) He has been based in Vietnam since 2015, where he works as a freelance travel writer, writing coach, and life coach for people with creative goals.
Dave’s first book, Getting Lost: Mishaps of an Accidental Nomad is his collection of humor essays about things that have gone wrong in his overseas travels. Globejoting: How to Write Extraordinary Travel Journals teaches wandering humans how to craft more meaningful diaries of their journeys. (Many of the techniques he teaches also work great for people who are currently trapped on Planet Covid, who would like to recall the details of past trips.) He also teaches travel and humor writing workshops on Udemy.com, and contributes travel humor columns to En Voyage, the in-flight magazine for Taiwan-based EVA Air.
As long as the Vietnamese Internet Gods cooperate, Dave will be joining us and enjoying some virtual jet lag from his living room in Ho Chi Minh City (a.k.a. Saigon).
