Create Your Comic World – ThinkingFunny21 Humor Conference

Have you ever wanted to create your very own ensemble comedy “world” from scratch? If so, you won’t want to miss John Vorhaus’s session at ThinkingFunny21. Vorhaus is an experienced sitcom writer and the author of many books, including the Little Book of Sitcom.

Vorhaus’s book has very specific and actionable methods to generate a cast of oddball characters who are stuck together by “set glue,” and that are then forced to slog their way through their problems. He says that comedy is pain plus distance, but it’s more that that, of course. We’re thrilled that he’ll be taking attendees through the steps of creating a comic world that offers recurring comic conflicts and a sustainable story environment. His sessions will offer you the chance to ask him specific questions about your comedy ideas.

John will lead off the day ThinkingFunny21, and will run two sessions because of his proven ability as a teacher. I first met John at UCLA, where John was teaching a weekend intensive in comedy writing.

I can honestly say he is one of the funniest and most capable teachers I have ever met, and I have taken dozens of such classes. You can’t go wrong with John. He’s got so much to offer.
